The Augustana softball team split a pair of doubleheaders Saturday at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla. The Vikings edged Nebraska-Omaha 4-3 in 9 innings only to see their 4-game winning streak snapped in a 4-0 loss to Wayne State, Mich.

Augustana (5-12) scored runs in the eighth and ninth innings to earn the win over Nebraska-Omaha. With the score tied 2-2 after seven innings, the game went to the international tiebreaker rule, which places a runner at second base to start the inning.

UNO scored a run in the top of the eighth when Alli Hukill lined a 2-out single to score Kristin Wellwood. In the bottom of the eighth, Kayla Henke doubled with 1 out to score Brittany Lipetzky to tie the score at 3-3. The Vikings had a chance to win, but Elizabeth Murray struck out with the bases loaded.

The Mavericks had their chance to score in the ninth inning as they had a runner on third with 1 out. However, Augustana pitcher Kelly Ottis was able to induce a pair of ground outs to strand the runner.

In the bottom of the ninth, Murray started the inning on second base. After an intentional walk to Erin Bohlmann, Kelsey Kalkman laid down a sacrifice bunt. However, UNO second baseman Treightan Yates booted the ball, which allowed Murray to score from second base.

Augustana opened the scoring in the first inning when Ally Rutherford lined an RBI single to score Henke. After UNO scored 2 runs in the second inning, the Vikings tied the score in the bottom of the second. Bohlmann singled and advanced to second on an illegal pitch. Kalkman then laid down a sacrifice bunt. Bohlmann was then able to score when the UNO catcher strayed too far from home plate.

Ottis pitched all 9 innings for the Vikings. She allowed only 2 earned runs on 5 hits. Henke paced the offense going 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.

Against Wayne State, the Vikings managed just 3 hits off WSU pitcher Casey Hanes, who struck out 8 hitters in 7 innings.

Rutherford had 2 of the Vikings' 3 hits. Meanwhile, Britt Stewart was saddled with the loss after scattering 9 hits over 6 innings.

Augustana is back in action on Monday when the Vikings play a doubleheader at Rollins at 6 p.m. EDT.
