For the second day in a row, the Augustana softball team faced dominant pitching in a pair of losses to Rollins College Monday night in Winter Park, Fla.

Game 1
In the first game of the doubleheader, Augustana could not help out starting pitcher
Kelly Ottis in a 1-0 loss, as the Tars starting pitcher Nicole Anderson dominated the Vikings batters.
Ottis (1-4) gave up just 1 earned run on 4 hits in 6 innings for Augie, but she was outdone by Anderson (15-3) who threw a complete game shutout, which included 15 strikeouts.
Anderson gave up the first and only hit to Augie when
Elizabeth Murray led off the top of the third inning with a single.
Ottis held her own for 5.0 innings, before giving up a leadoff home run to Kristina Holland to score the only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Game 2
For the second consecutive game, Augie turn pitching turned in a solid performance, but Rollins College had just enough to take a one run ball game.
Britt Stewart was the starting pitcher for Augie and finished the game giving up 3 runs on 5 hits in 6 innings, while striking out 3 batters. Rollins College starting pitcher Rachael Foster (12-1) held on for 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 14 batters.
The Vikings got on the board for the first time in the doubleheader when Stewart hit a home run over the center field fence in the top of the second inning.
Augie kept things going in the next inning when
Taylor Kapsch led off with a double and advance to third on a sacrifice bunt from
Kayla Henke.
Then with two down,
Ally Rutherford came through with a clutch single to make it a 2-0 game.
But just as the Vikings had momentum in its favor, the Tars drew even in the bottom of the fifth inning when Rachel Almengual connected on a home run to lead off the inning. Rollins College then tied the game up on an infield ground ball, as the runner from third base advanced home.
Then after a scoreless top half of the sixth, Rollins College scored the go-ahead run. With the bases loaded and one out, the Tars Morgan Frost hit a ground ball to the short stop to take the 3-2 lead into the seventh inning.
Foster then capped off the game by striking out the side in order to put an end to any comeback chances by the Vikings.
Augustana will play in its final spring trip game against Saint Leo University at 5 p.m. in Saint Leo, Fla.
