Jessie Huff Scores Gamewinning Goal in Augie Soccer's Double Overtime Win

Freshman midfielder Jessie Huff scored a goal 5:41 minutes into the second overtime Friday to earn Augie a win over St. Cloud State in the opening game of the NSIC Soccer Festival in Sioux Falls, S.D. This marks Augie's third double-overtime game in a row.
 
The win improves Augie to 3-2-1 on the season while St. Cloud State drops to 1-2-1.
 
The Huskies struck quickly with a goal by Gabrielle Najera just 4:54 into the game.
 
Augie was able to tie up the score when sophomore midfielder Stacy Dally scored on a cross by junior midfielder Stephanie Goos.
 
The Huskies improved their lead to 2-1 before halftime when Lindsay Sather scored on a ball that was mishandled by Augie's freshman goalkeeper Amanda Wagner.
 
St. Cloud's Chelsey Scheller scored just minutes into the second half by beating Augie's sophomore goalkeeper Melissa Fowler to a loose ball, putting the Huskies up 3-1.
 
Down by two, Augie scored twice in less than four minutes to tie the score 3-3. Goos scored off of a rebound shot before junior midfielder Katie Shandri scored on a header at the 60:01 mark thanks to a pass from Huff. 

Both teams fought hard in the first overtime, but neither was able to score. Huff's game-winner came off of a long pass by Goos.

Huff's goal was her third on the season. She had two shots, two shots on goal plus an assist. Goos also scored her third goal of the season and recorded two assists with seven shots and five shots on goal.

The Vikings will be in action again on Sunday as they take on Winona State at 11 a.m. at Yankton Trails Park.
