The Augustana volleyball team lost its final two matches at the Radisson-Roseville Tournament on Saturday. The Vikings fell 3-1 to Southwest Minnesota State before losing in three to Concordia-St. Paul.
The losses drop Augustana to 5-7 on the season while Southwest Minnesota improves to 9-2 and Concordia-St. Paul remains undefeated at 11-0. The Vikings lost to No. 1 ranked Concordia St. Paul 25-21, 25-19, 25-15.
In the first set the Golden Bears jumped out to a quick 7-2 lead. Augie was able to pull to within one after a ball-handling error by Concordia St. Paul's Maggie McNamara. The Vikings were down 22-15 when freshman setter
Dani Haley served five points in a row to make the score 22-20. Augie would only score one more point, losing the first set 25-21.
In the second set, the teams traded points until Concordia St. Paul's Megan Carlson served four points in a row to earn the 14-10 lead. Augie had 10 kills and six errors in the set, which prevented them from coming back, and they lost 25-21.
Set number three was all the Golden Bears. Mary Slinger served six points in a row to put Concordia St. Paul up 17-10. The deficit proved to be too much for the Vikings and they lost the set 25-17.

Megan Bezdicek had eight kills each for the Vikings. Haley recorded 28 assists.
In the first match of the day, Augie got off to a rough start when the Mustang's Kenzie Nieche served six points in a row to earn them the 6-0 lead. A service ace from junior middle
Brianna Erickson plus a couple of Southwest Minnesota hitting errors moved the Vikings closer at 9-6. The Vikings were unable to makeup their earlier deficit and lost the first set, 25-23.
The second set was close the entire way, with the teams trading points throughout. A kill by Andrews tied the score at 24-24 before a block by senior middle
Blythe Johnson and Bezdicek gave the Vikings a one-point advantage. A bad set by Nieche gave the Vikings the 26-24 win.
The Vikings led for the first half of set number three before a service ace by Southwest Minnesota State's Tory Brouwer tied the score at 13-13. Augie never regained the lead and a kill by Southwest Minnesota's Devin Diedrich ended the set 25-23.
The Mustangs got off to a quick start in the fourth, building a 11-5 lead. The Vikings were unable to answer, losing 25-17.
Andrews had a team-high 14 kills, Haley dished out 50 assists. Freshman libero
Grace Sanders recorded 21 digs.
The Vikings will be back in action Tuesday as they travel to Mankato, Minn. for a 7 p.m. match against Minnesota State.
