Augustana Enters AFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll at No. 25

The Augustana football team is continuing to venture into new territories. A week after playing its first home game on campus in 51 years, the Vikings made their first appearance in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, the AFCA announced Monday.

The Vikings, who are 3-0 following a 49-0 win over Minnesota, Crookston, on Saturday, are ranked No. 25 in the poll, which has existed since the 2000 season.

Augustana, winners of five straight games dating back to last season, is 1 of 4 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams ranked in the top 25. Minnesota State University, Mankato is No. 7, followed by Minnesota Duluth at No. 8. Wayne State (Neb.) is ranked 20th in this week's poll.

Augustana, 1 of 3 new teams in this week's rankings, faces a stern road test this week as the Vikings travel to Duluth, Minn., to face eighth-ranked Minnesota Duluth in a 6 p.m. contest. UMD is the defending Division II national champion.
