The Augustana volleyball team won its second game of the weekend Saturday night at the Elmen Center. The Vikings defeated the Wolves of Northern State, 3-1. Match scores were 25-22, 20-25, 25-19, and 25-13.
The win improves Augie to 7-8 overall and 2-1 in NSIC play. Northern State drops to 6-9 and 1-2 in the conference.
The teams traded points for the first set until a kill by Northern's Kayla Ysteboe tied the score at 20-20. Augie scored three unanswered points to gain the 23-20 advantage. Senior outside

Augie built a three-point lead in the second set when a Northern State service error made the score 10-7. Errors by the Vikings plus a kill from the Wolves put the score at 11-9 when Northern's Jordan Schaffer served six points in a row to earn Northern State the 15-12 advantage. Another scoring run by Whitney Morsching put the Wolves up 22-16 and Augie was unable to answer, losing the set 25-20.
The third set was close until Haley served four points in a row to give Augie the 15-9 lead. Northern pulled to within four at 22-18, but a service error plus a kill by freshman outside
Megan Bezdicek put the game out of reach, and the Vikings won 25-19.
Augie dominated set four, jumping out to a 5-0 lead after recoring five kills in a row. The Wolves would never make up the deficit and junior outside
Beth Talcott served six straight points to end the set 25-13.
Andrews led all hitters with 15 kills while Hultgren added 14 and Bezdicek contributed 11. Senior middle

Melanie Twait added a career-high 15 digs.
The Vikings will host Wayne State on Sept. 25 in the Elmen Center. Match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
