BOX SCORE

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.
- Augustana erased a 1-0 deficit and got goals from Jessie Huff, Jill Goodrich and Maren Werth to roll past Southwest Minnesota State 3-1 Sunday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference soccer in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Augustana improves to 4-6-2 (3-3-1 NSIC), while SMSU falls to 1-7-2 (0-5-2 NSIC).

The Vikings recorded a season-high 13 shots on goal in the win.  The three goals Augustana got past SMSU goalkeeper Kendra Olchefske was also a season high.  The Vikings outshot the Mustangs 21-13.

SMSU opened scoring early in the first period at the 11:22 mark when Courtney McCarthy took a cross pass from Kelly Fitzgerald and found the back of the net for her second goal of the season.

Ten minutes later, though, Augustana answered when Ciara Godfrey found a streaking Huff well across midfield for a breakaway goal.  The goal was Huff's first of the season.

Goodrich scored the game-winning goal deep into the first period, taking a Mackenzie Trom corner kick and heading it past Olchefske.  The goal--Goodrich's first of the season--came in the 39th minute.

Werth put the finishing touches on the win in the 49th minute with the help of teammates Stephanie Goos and Kate Timmons.  Goos entered a corner kick to Timmons, who centered the ball to Werth for a shallow goal.  The goal marked Werth's first of her career.

Augustana's offense was dominant throughout, holding a 10-2 advantage on corner kicks in the contest.

The Vikings got a strong performance from goalkeeper Amanda Wagner, who finished with nine saves to record her fourth victory of the season.

Augustana continues this four-match roadstand next weekend when the Vikings host Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State on Saturday and Sunday.  Both matches begin at 1 p.m.
