ST. CLOUD, Minn. –
Stacy Dally scored her fourth goal of the season for Augustana in Saturday's match against St. Cloud State, but the lone goal would not be enough as the Huskies went on to top the Vikings 2-1 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate soccer held in St. Cloud, Minn.
St. Cloud improves to 10-7-0 (7-5-0 NSIC), while Augustana is now 7-8-2 (6-5-1 NSIC).
Maren Werth led the Vikings with four shots.
Amanda Wagner made five saves in the afternoon.
After kicking 14 shots, SCSU was able to put the ball past Wagner at 36:55 to score the only goal of the first period. Wagner made three saves. The Huskies held the Vikings' offensive to just two shots.
SCSU remained dominant during the opening of the second period, recording three shots in the first three minutes of play. Despite the immediate action, the Vikings were able to quickly answer back with a header by
Jill Goodrich off a corner kick. The result of the shot was wide, but the effort put the momentum in favor of the Vikings and at 60:26 Dally tied the score at 1-1 from assists by Werth and
Jill Goodrich.
The Vikings followed up the goal with two shots but the pressure wouldn't be enough as SCSU would score the game winning goal off a header at 66:14.
SCSU outshot the Vikings 24-10.
Augustana will conclude its regular season Sunday at 1 p.m. against Concordia University, St. Paul.
