This week: 
Augustana (8-8-2) earned a spot as the No. 6 seed in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament and will take on No. 3-seeded Bemidji State (13-3-1) for a 1 p.m. match on Wednesday in Bemidji, Minn.
   
Series record:  The Vikings hosted Bemidji State earlier in the season and were defeated 1-0 by a second-period goal from the Beavers.  Augustana first played BSU in 2003 and the Vikings are 1-4-1 in against the Beavers (all-time scores vs. Bemidji State).              

Last time out:
Augustana wrapped up its regular season last weekend, finishing 1-1.  The Vikings fell to St. Cloud State 2-1 and then rose to a 2-1 victory over Concordia University, St. Paul on Sunday.               

Scoring for the Vikings: Three Vikings scored three goals last weekend for Augustana.  Stacy Dally, Jessie Huff and Maren Werth all scored their fourth goals of the season. 

Wins for Wagner: Amanda Wagner has been the goalkeeper for Augustana in all but two matches this season.  She has a 6-8-2 record and has made104 stops to boast an .860 save percentage.       

Freshman leader:
Maren Werth leads Augustana with four goals, two assists, 35 shots and 18 shots on goal.  Werth has had two game-winning goals this season against Minnesota Duluth and Concordia St. Paul.   

More with four: Katie Shandri was the first Viking to score four goals this season, but after Augustana's three goals last weekend, Stacy Dally, Jessie Huff and Marin Werth join Shandri among the head of the Vikings.  Dally has two assists, while Huff and Shandri each have one.      

Stayin' consistent:
According to the latest NSIC standings, Augustana remains at the No. 5 spot.  Along with the Vikings at No. 5 is U-Mary and St. Cloud State.

NSIC tournament: The NSIC Tournament features a single elimination draw in which the tournament champion advances to the NCAA Central Regional Tournament.  Winona State and Minnesota Duluth are seeded No. 1 and 2, respectively.  A win for Augustana on Wednesday against No. 3-seeded Bemidji State would make for a noon match for the Vikings on Friday against either No. 2-seeded UMD or No. 7-seeded U-Mary (2010 NSIC Tournament Bracket).   
     
The elders: Augustana returns 20 players to this season's roster. Among them are sophomore Jessie Huff and junior Kate Timmons who were named 2010 Preseason Players to Watch in the 2010 NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Huff scored seven goals last season, while Timmons recorded one assist.

The coach: Augustana head coach Brandon Barkus enters his fifth season on the Vikings sideline in 2010. Barkus owns a record of 41-42-12 at Augustana. In 2008 Barkus' squad put together the most successful season in school history, finishing 13-6-1 and 10-3 in NSIC play. The 2008 team also made the NCAA Division II tournament for the first time in school history. Barkus is assisted by Clay Glasgow and Dale Weiler.

According to the coaches:
The Vikings were selected to finish sixth in the annual NSIC preseason poll, which was voted on by the 14 head coaches. Augustana received 104 points in the poll. Winona State's nine first-place votes and 162 points led them to nab the top spot, while Minnesota State, Minnesota Duluth, St. Cloud State and U-Mary also came in ahead of the Vikings.

History lesson: Viking soccer enters its 11th year of competition in 2010. Augustana owns an all-time record of 65-127-15 with one NCAA Tournament appearance in 2008.

Captains: Head Coach Brandon Barkus announced three captions for the 2010 season. Senior defender Jill Goodrich, senior midfielder Stephanie Goos and junior defender Kate Timmons will lead the Vikings. This marks Goodrich's third season as team captain.
