Cody Lensing,
Jay Sherer,
Chism Fink and
Marcus Edgington all picked up titles at the Dakota Wesleyan Open on Saturday to headline a host of Augustana place winners. Lensing took the title at 133 pounds, Sherer took first at 141 pounds, Fink was the champion at 149 pounds and Edgington grabbed first-place honors at 157 pounds.
Lensing finished 4-0 on the day and defeated Grandview's Travis Evans 4-2 in the championship bout.
Fink logged a 5-0 performance and met teammate
Nate Herda in the championship bout, where he posted a 2-1 win by decision. Herda was 5-1 on the day.
Edgington's 5-0 effort earned him title honors. He topped William Penn's Joe Range for the championship.
Al Meger and
TJ North each posted 3-0 campaigns at 125 pounds to get to the championship tilt. The teammates did not wrestle for the title.
At 141 pounds, Sherer and
Jason Jeremiason both went 4-0 to reach the title bout. Sherer defeated his teammate 2-1.
Gavin Nelson and
Brian Schultz both garnered runner-up honors at 165 and 184 pounds, respectively. Nelson registered a 4-1 record, while Schultz was 3-1.
At 174 pounds,
Carl Serck reached a third-place finish with his 5-1 outing.
Sean Derry was fifth at the same weight after finishing 4-2.
Jeremiah Peterson's 4-1 day got him third place at 133 pounds.
Austin Carmichael was fifth at 157 pounds (4-1),
Jeff Nielsen was seventh at 197 pounds (3-2) and
Mike Roberts was seventh at 285 pounds (4-2) and
Bradyn Neises finished eighth at 165 pounds (2-3), while
Darcy Huffman was eighth at 184 pounds (2-3).
Augustana returns to action next Saturday at the Kaufman/Brand Open in Omaha, Neb.
