The Augustana women's basketball team recorded its second win of the weekend Saturday night against Winona State. Five Vikings scored in double-digits in the 93-71 win.

The win improves Augie to 18-5 overall this season and 12-4 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

The Vikings got off to a fast start, outscoring the Warriors 12-3 in the first six minutes. Winona State put together a small string of points, and a basket by sophomore forward Michelle McDonald made the score 14-10 in favor of Augie with 11:51 to play.
 
Augie was 0-7 on 3-pointers until junior guard Megan Doyle broke the miss streak with a trey at 11:38. She followed that up with two more 3-pointers to give the Vikings a 23-14 lead.
 
The Warriors stuck with the Vikings for a few possessions, but Augie then scored 10 straight points to take a 39-23 advantage. That streak included three 3-pointers by the Vikings, and two by junior guard Tessa Wilka.
 
Augustana outscored Winona State 13-8 in the final four minutes of the half with sophomore guard Liz Helsper sinking a three at the buzzer to give the Vikings a 52-31 advantage at the break.
 
The Vikings shot 47.4 percent (18-38) for the half, and made their last 8 of 12 from behind the arc to move their 3-point shooting percentage to 42.1 percent (8 of 19).
 
Winona State was 42.9 percent (18 of 28) from the field and 45.5 percent (5 of 11) from downtown.
 
Augie only committed one turnover in the half and forced the Warriors to turn the ball over eight times.

Augie kept up the hot shooting from downtown as three of their first four baskets of the second half were 3-pointers. A trey by sophomore center Teri VerSteeg at the 15:32 mark gave the Vikings a 63-36 lead.
 
Doyle scored six of Augie's next eight points, and Augie increased the lead to 74-46 with 11:40 on the clock. The teams traded baskets until the Vikings put together a string of six unanswered points, four more of which came from Doyle. Augustana led 84-53 with 7:26 remaining.
 
A 3-pointer by sophomore forward Faith Tinklenberg with 2:55 on the put the game out of Winona State's reach and allowed Augie to walk away with its second double-digit margin of victory of the weekend.

Augie shot 49.3 percent (35 of 71) from the field and was 44.8 percent (13 of 29) from 3-point range. They also played solid defense, collecting eight steals and eight blocks while forcing 14 Warrior turnovers.

The Warriors were 40.7 percent (22 of 54) shooting for the game and 31.6 percent (13 of 29) from behing the arc. They made 21 of 25 (84 percent) free throws.
 
Doyle led all scorers for the second-straight night, recording 23 points and seven assists. Freshman forward Lydia Nelson scored 15 points on 4 of 6 shooting and a perfect 7 of 7 from the charity stripe.

Alex Feeney scored 12 points, which, combined with a career-high 12 rebounds, makes her first career double-double.

Wilka added 12 points and sophomore guard Molly Hayes contributed 10 points, six assists, and three steals.

The Vikings will be on the road again next weekend, playing the U-Mary at 6 p.m. in Bismarck, N.D. on Friday. They will then take on Northern State in Aberdeen, S.D. at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
