The Augustana men's tennis team won its third-straight dual by sweeping a pair of non-conference opponents on Monday. The Vikings easily defeated Onondaga Community College 9-0 Monday morning before coming back to down College of St. Scholastica 7-2 Monday night in Orlando, Fla.
The Vikings are now 3-3 on the season.
Neal Gregerson,
Dane Rasmussen and
JD Carrels coasted to easy singles wins against Onondaga. Gregerson defeated Carl Longchamps 6-1, 6-0, while Rasmussen handled Ken Boddie 6-1, 6-1. Carrels blanked Ben Osinski 6-0, 6-0.
The Vikings also won four exhibition singles matches.
In their second dual of the day, the Vikings took the early momentum by claiming all three doubles matches. Two of the matches were close. At No. 1 doubles,
Jared Drenkow and
Evan Gardner edged Jacob Engelstad and Tucker Combs 8-4. Rasmussen and Carrels beat Kollin Dean and Tom Schneuer by the same 8-4 score.
Augustana went on to win four of the six doubles matches. Drenkow had an easy time in dispatching Dillon Sterle 6-1, 6-0. Also winning were Rasmussen, Carrels and Gregerson.
The Vikings return to the court on Tuesday when they take on Rollins in a 3 p.m. EDT dual.
