Augie Softball Continues to Roll with Two Wins on Tuesday

The Augustana softball team notched two more wins Tuesday with a 6-1 victory over Caldwell College and a staggering 11-3 routing of Quincy University.
The Vikings are now 13-0.
In the Quincy game, the Hawks took a 2-0 lead after scoring runs in the first and fourth innings. The Vikings were able to tie the game 2-2 after scoring twice in the fourth.
The Vikings then blew the game wide open with a big fifth inning. Kayla Henke led off with a single and Jenny Brown reached on a fielder's choice. A sacrifice bunt by Elizabeth Murray moved both runners up before a triple by Traci Fransen scored both Henke and Brown.
Augie wasn't done yet though as a double by Britt Stewart scored Fransen. Kelsey Kalkman got on base in set up a two-run blast by Chelsey Durland.
Brittany Coufal got on base, followed by a walk by Taylor Kapsch, both of whom were brought in on a three-run homer by Henke.
One more run by each team made the final 11-3. Augie scored their runs on an impressive 18 hits and only committed one error in the game.
Ashley Meyer pitched all six innings for the Vikings, only allowing four hits.
Henke and Durland were both 3 for 3 in the game.
Kalkman was 4 for 4 with two doubles while Brown was 2 for 3.
Against Caldwell, Augie took the lead early, scoring one run in both the second and third innings.
The Cougars scored their one run in the fourth, but the Vikings scored four more runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.
Durland earned the win, going seven innings while Mickey Anderson recorded the save with one inning of relief.
Henke was 2 for 3. Both of her hits were doubles and she recorded three RBI.
Brown was 2 for 2 with a triple while Stewart went 2 for 3 with two doubles.
The Vikings will play Adelphi University at 9 a.m. (ET) on Thursday followed by a 1 p.m. (ET) contest with the University of New Haven.
