The Augustana baseball team rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Winona State in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader at Ronken Field. Winona State defeated the Vikings 7-6 in the opener.

The Vikings moved its record to 22-13 and 9-3 in the conference while Winona State is now 20-6 and 10-2 in the NSIC.

In the opener, the Warriors posted two three-run innings in the first and third to go up 6-0. But the Vikings began to chip away. Nate Alfson singled home Drew Heithoff and Nate Baumann to cut the deficit to 6-2 in the fourth, and a three-run sixth drew the deficit to 7-5.

Down two in the ninth, the Vikings loaded the bases, and scored one when Alfson hit a sacrifice fly to score Heithoff. However, that was all that Augie could bring across the plate, and the Vikings lost 7-6.

Grant Larson picked up his first loss of the year (4-1).

In the nightcap, Augie did the early damage, posting a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Alfson hit another sac fly to score Charlie Dubanoski. Winona State added two in the fifth, and Baumann homered to even the score at 2-2 after five innings.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Vikings again found themselves down two runs, but this time they had the answer. Nate Hewes walked and Baumann drove him in on a two-run home run to tie the score at 4-4. A few batters later, Gates Cook singled home Heithoff to earn Augie the victory.

Bret Severtson improved his record to 3-2 with the win.

The Vikings and Warriors will play another doubleheader on Sunday. The first pitch is at noon.
