Trailing 2-1 in the top of the seventh inning, the 12th-ranked Viking softball team was able to score two runs late to sweep Saturday's doubleheader against St. Cloud State in St. Cloud, Minn. The Vikings won the first game 8-1 before securing the 3-2 8-inning victory.
The Vikings improved to 40-9 and 22-2 in the league–two games ahead of second place Winona State. St. Cloud State fell to 21-25 and 8-16 in the league.
After giving up two unearned runs in the second contest, the Vikings found themselves down 2-1 and down to their final out in the top of the seventh inning. With pinch runner

Taylor Kapsch singled to center field to score Thompson to tie the score 2-2.

Jenny Brown. Brown led all Viking hitters in the second game, going 3-of-4.
Mickey Anderson, who improved her record to 4-0, allowed one hit in the bottom of the eighth before retiring the side. Anderson allowed six hits in eight innings while striking out six.
In the opener, the Vikings got off to a hot start, scoring two runs in the first and second innings.
Kayla Henke went 2-of-3 on the day and scored the first run on a Fransen single. Brown followed suit on the next play, scoring on a
Kelsey Kalkman single.
Kapsch homered to start the second, and Henke scored on a stealing attempt by Brown. The Vikings added four more runs, while holding the Huskies to one.
Ashley Meyer won and improved her record to 17-3. She threw five innings, scattering four hits and one run while striking out three.
The Augustana Vikings have the opportunity to clinch their first NSIC regular season softball championship tomorrow when they travel to St. Paul, Minn., to face Concordia. The doubleheader is slated to begin at 1 p.m. If the Vikings win one of the two games, they will clinch the conference title and host the conference tournament May 7-8.
