The Augustana baseball team swept Sunday's doubleheader against Northern State in Aberdeen, S.D. The Vikings won the opener 22-5 and the nightcap 17-9.

Augustana outscored Northern State in the four-game series 78-14. The Vikings finished the regular season with a record of 34-22 and 21-11 in the conference. The Vikings finished in seventh place in the league, however, only the top six teams advance to the NSIC Baseball Tournament.

The team had another great performance from the plate, going 25-of-42 (.595) in the opener and 18-of-41 (.439) in the nightcap.

Nate Baumann tallied the best batting average on the day with his 8-of-9 (.889) performance in the two games. His three-run home run in the top of the second inning in the first game propelled the Augustana advantage to 14-0, and he belted another in the second game to bring his season total to 14.

Charlie Dubanoski went 3-of-5 with five RBIs and belted his 15th home run of the year in the third inning of the first game.

In the opener, Grant Larson picked up his fifth win of the year (5-2), as he scattered three runs on three hits while striking out four. Kenny Lidke, Sam Gotham and Nick Seliski each pitched an inning in relief.

Derek Hansen picked up the win in the nightcap, giving up one hit in two innings of work.
