SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –
Katie Shandri scored two goals for Augustana to lift her team to a 2-1 victory over U-Mary in both teams' first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference match Saturday morning.

The win moves Augustana's record to 2-3-1 (1-0-0 NSIC) and drops U-Mary's record to 1-4-1 (0-1-0 NSIC).

Shandri had a solid day for the Vikings, leading the team with eight shots, seven on goal. The midfielder's two goals in the match helps put her record at three for the season, which is a team high.

Shandri's first goal of the game came at just 13 minutes into the first period to give the Vikings an early edge over the Marauders . Stacy Dally was credited with the assist. During the remainder of the period, U-Mary made seven attempts at scoring but came up unsuccessful with Augustana's goalkeeper Amanda Wagner in the net.

The second period had an exciting start as U-Mary's Jessica Curl kicked it by Wagner off a penalty kick 23 seconds into play.

It was Shandri who was able to answer back for Augustana; she netted a goal in the 68th minute that would put the Vikings ahead 2-1. The assist again came from Dally.

U-Mary outshot Augustana 16-11, however the Vikings were more accurate, recording nine shots on goal compared to the Marauders' seven.

The Vikings will play Northern State Sunday at 1 p.m. in a home contest.
