Wayne State due to arrive at Augustana on Sunday

This week: Augustana (2-3-2, 1-0-1 NSIC) has a light load this week with just one match.  The Vikings will face Wayne State (3-1-2, 0-0-2 NSIC) on Sunday for a home contest that is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

Series records: Augustana has matched up against Wayne State six times before and trails in the series record 2-3-1 (all-time scores vs. Wayne State). The first time these schools competed was Aug. 8, 2000; Vikings suffered a 12-0 loss.  WSC would go on to beat Augustana the next two meeting until 2004 when Augustana would get revenge, topping the Wildcats 3-1.  On Oct. 5, 2008, a dominant Augustana defeated WSU 6-0 and then settled for a 0-0 tie in double-overtime on Oct. 4, 2009.

Last time out: The Vikings celebrated a 2-1 win last weekend over U-Mary to kick off both conference competition and their first home match of the season.  The Vikings then played Northern State on Sunday and finished 1-1 in double-overtime.

Kate the great: Katie Shandri has been named Offensive Player of the Week by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference for her performance in last weekend's matches against U-Mary and Northern State.  Shandri scored two goals for Augustana against U-Mary, leading the Vikings to a 2-1 win.  On Sunday, Shandri scored off a penalty kick to tie up Augustana's match against Northern State.  The midfielder is leading the Vikings with nine points racked up this season off four goals and an assist.  Shandri has had 28 shots with 15 on goal.

The juniors: Augustana juniors Katie Bowman and Stacy Dally have both charted two points for the Vikings this season.  Bowman recorded a goal against Minnesota State Moorhead to help Augustana record its first win of the season, while Dally has tallied two assists.

Seeing double: Sunday's double-overtime match with Northern State is a situation Augustana is familiar with. The Vikings have found themselves in four double-overtime contests so far this season and had seven double-overtime matches last season. Augustana has played in a total of 22 double-overtime matches in program history, posting a 2-4-16 record in that scenario.

The elders: Augustana returns 20 players to this season's roster. Among them are sophomore Jessie Huff and junior Kate Timmons who were named 2010 Preseason Players to Watch in the 2010 NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Huff scored seven goals last season, while Timmons recorded one assist.

The coach: Augustana head coach Brandon Barkus enters his fifth season on the Vikings sideline in 2010. Barkus owns a record of 35-37-12 at Augustana. In 2008 Barkus' squad put together the most successful season in school history, finishing 13-6-1 and 10-3 in NSIC play. The 2008 team also made the NCAA Division II tournament for the first time in school history. Barkus is assisted by Clay Glasgow and Dale Weiler.

According to the coaches:
