GOLDEN, Colo.
- Augustana picked up its first win of the season with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-19) victory over Slippery Rock (Pa.) Saturday morning, but the Vikings had to settle for a split on the final day of the Oredigger Classic after falling 3-1 (25-23, 30-28, 15-25, 25-20) to Fort Lewis (Colo.) later in the afternoon in Golden, Colo.

Augustana is now 1-3 on the season.

The Vikings got a 35-assist effort from Kayla Wallerich in the opening match of the day as Augustana held a commanding lead throughout.

Freshman Lindsey Petersen notched her first career double-figure kills match, finishing with a match-high 13.  Brianna Erickson added 11 kills.

The Augustana defense shined in the victory; five different Vikings checked in with at least 11 digs.  Grace Sander's 22 digs led all.

At the net, the Vikings tallied 10 blocks and held SRU to a negative hitting percentage.

FLC, which stayed undefeated on the season, held off Augustana in its second match of the day, winning the first set by two points and having to go to a fourth set to record the win.

Petersen had another solid outing and smashed a match-high 16 kills.  Erickson and Jordan Spatenka contributed 12 and 11 kills, respectively.  Erickson also dug up 12 balls to record Augustana's first double-double of the season.

Sanders had another 22-dig match in the loss.

Augustana returns to action on Wednesday when the Vikings travel to Nebraska-Kearney to face the Lopers in a non-conference contest.  First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
