This week: Augustana returns home this weekend, hosting Upper Iowa (1-14, 1-10 NSIC) on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by Winona State (12-3, 8-3 NSIC) on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Last time out: The Vikings were on the road against No. 8 Wayne State last Saturday and were defeated 73-69. The game was tied with just more than two minutes remaining, but WSC hit five free throws down the stretch to pull away.

The series: Augustana is 7-0 in the series against t Upper Iowa that began in 2004. Last season, the Vikings defeated the Peacocks 96-84 and 104-49. All seven wins for Augustana against UIU have come with
Dave Krauth as the head coach. Augustana has faced Winona State 18 times since the two teams first met during the 1984-85 season, and the Vikings lead the series 15-3. The Vikings have only dropped 1 of 11 games played at home against the Warriors. Augustana was victorious in both games against WSU last season, topping the Warriors 84-71 and 93-71. Krauth is 14-3 in the series against WSC.
1,000-point club: Molly Hayes is closing in on becoming the 25th member of the 1,000-point club. Hayes has totaled 980 career points. With 20 more points, Hayes will join
Megan Doyle as the second current member of the Vikings' roster to join the club.
Three in a row: Augustana's loss to Wayne State last Saturday marked the third consecutive loss for the Vikings, something that hasn't happened since the 2008-09 season. Below is a breakdown of Augustana's last three-game losing streak.

Homeward bound: TheVikings will be looking to extend their 14 game winning streak in the Elmen Center when they return home this weekend. Augustana has not dropped a game at home since Jan. 9, 2010, when they fell 80-75 to Minnesota State Moorhead. This season, the Vikings are 7-0 at home.

Scoring surge: In the opening half against Wayne State,
Molly Hayes was 4 of 4 from the field and was 2 of 2 from the charity stripe to lead Augustana with 12 points. She collected another seven points in the final half to finish with 19 total points in the afternoon. She also had four rebounds and three assists.

Climbin' the charts: With 1,317 career points,
Megan Doyle has a chance at making her way onto the list of the top 10 scorers at Augustana. She tallied 17 points against Wayne State last weekend to move up from the No. 13 position where she sat last week. She is currently No. 12 on the charts, but with 18 more points she will tie Julie Krauth for the No. 10 spot.

Roster breakdown: The Vikings return all five starters and 11 letterwinners from last year's NCAA Tournament squad that had 24 wins. Augustana features seven guards, seven forwards and three centers on its 2010-11 roster. There are also four seniors, four juniors, three sophomores, three redshirt freshmen and three freshmen.
Coaches' corner: Dave Krauth enters his 22nd campaign at the Viking helm. His 434-197 won-loss record is unmatched in school history. In his 21 years on the bench, Krauth has experienced just one losing season. The veteran head coach has guided his squads to 11 NCAA Tournament appearances and finished second in the NSIC in 2009-10 before qualifying for the NCAA Tournament and advancing to the region semifinals. According to the coaches: Augustana was selected second in the 2010-11 NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll. The Vikings received two first-place votes and 152 points from the conference's 14 head coaches. Wayne State received 11 first-place votes and 166 points to take the No. 1 position. Concordia-St. Paul was third (one first-place votes, 150 points), while Minnesota Duluth and Winona tied for fourth (125 points).

NCAA Tournament time: The Vikings advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2009-10 for the second consecutive year. Last season, the Vikings made it to the semifinals before dropping to Fort Lewis. Krauth has 11 NCAA Tournament appearances under his belt.
Coach Puthoff: Amy Puthoff has not always enjoyed basketball from the sidelines as a graduate assistant coach. She once had a successful career at Augustana herself. In her senior season, the Hartford, S.D., native became the 24th player in school history to score 1,000 points and ended her career eighth on the all-time scoring list with 1,384 points. In addition, Puthoff is fourth on the all-time career 3-point field goal chart with 207.
Vikings add three for 2011-12: Head coach
Dave Krauth announced Nov. 9 that Alex Kneeland from Summit, S.D., Sophie Kenney from Fargo, N.D., and Nicole Kerkhoff from Morgan, Minn., have all signed letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at Augustana beginning in 2011-12. Kneeland, a 5-foot-7 guard, averages 26.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game and is a two-time All-State first team selection. Kenney, a 5-foot-10 guard, lead Shanley High School to the consolation championship and averaged nine points, four rebounds and 6.5 assists per game during her junior season. Kerkhoff is a 5-foot-11 forward who averaged 15 points and eight rebounds per game to earn All-Area first team honors as a junior.
