Cameron McCaffrey and
Cody Schilling combined for 54 points to guide Augustana past Concordia University, St. Paul 83-69 Friday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference basketball in St. Paul, Minn.
The Vikings pick up their seventh straight win and move to 13-5 (10-4 NSIC). CU falls to 11-7 (8-6 NSIC).
The current seven-game winning streak the Vikings are riding is comprised of all conference games. It's the longest conference winning streak since the 1933-34 season when Augustana won 10 consecutive South Dakota Intercollegiate Conference games.
McCaffrey netted a game-high 29 points for the Vikings, while Schilling contributed another 25. The duo also combined for six 3-pointers.
CU got 20 points and six rebounds from Peter Olafaso.
The Vikings shot 49.2 percent (31 of 63) from the field but were outrebounded for the first time in five games (38-37).
The first half featured 15 lead changes, but Augustana managed a 40-34 halftime lead behind 16 points from Schilling and another 10 from McCaffrey.
The Vikings didn't trail for the remainder of the game. Their lead grew to as large as 16 points four times.
McCaffrey's 17 second-half points and a 51.9 percent shooting performance by Augustana kept the Golden Bears at a comfortable distance.
CU had the deficit down to single digits just once inside the 10-minute mark, but the nine-point difference with 43 seconds was quickly widened after the Vikings drilled six free throws down the stretch.
Augustana matched a season high with 11 3-pointers.
The Golden Bears shot just 35.7 percent (5 of 14) from the charity stripe.
The Vikings will play at St. Cloud State tomorrow at 6 p.m.
