Augustana tops St. Cloud State

ST. CLOUD, Minn
. - Megan Doyle recorded a triple-double and Molly Hayes scored a career-high 28 points to lead Augustana past St. Cloud State 81-74 Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference basketball in St. Cloud, Minn.

The Vikings are now 16-6 (9-6 NSIC).  SCSU is 9-10 (6-9 NSIC).

Doyle had 15 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists in her triple-double.

Alex Feeney recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Lydia Nelson added 12 points.

Talisha Barlow (18 points) and Sam Price (15 points) led the Huskies in scoring.

The win snapped a four-game road losing streak for the Vikings.

Augustana went on an 8-1 run early in the first half and took its largest lead of the half at 14-7 as Hayes hit a 3-pointer for the Vikings.

With 1:54 remaining in the half, Sam Price nailed jumper for SCSU to steal the lead from Augustana and go up 34-33.

Board had five of the final six points in the half to give the Vikings a 39-34 lead.

The Vikings outshot the Huskies 55.2 percent to 40.6 percent.

Four minutes into the second half Morgan Lof made a pair of free-throws for SCSU and knotted the score 45-45.

The lead continued to bounce back and forth between the two teams until midway through the half when the Huskies jumped ahead to their largest lead of 59-53.

Augustana, though, rallied  in the last 10 minutes, gaining an 11-point lead.

The Huskies cut their deficit to seven to close the game.

Augustana shot 52.7 percent from the field in the game, while SCSU was just 35.6 percent.

The Vikings return home next weekend for conference tilts against Minnesota State and Southwest Minnesota State.
