Maren Werth fired Augustana's game-winning goal with just under three minutes left of play to lead the Vikings to a 1-0 victory over Bemidji State Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Soccer.
Augustana improves to 7-6-0 (4-4-0 NSIC). BSU drops to 5-6-2 (4-3-2 NSIC).
The Vikings controlled the action throughout the first period as they held decisive advantages in both shots (11-7) and corner kicks (2-0).
Augustana continued to create numerous scoring opportunities in the second period, adding 11shots. The Vikings' defense held the Beavers to five shots.
It appeared the game would go into overtime when in the 88th minute Werth kicked the ball past BSU's Sonja Barr. The goal was Werth's third on the season.
Barr made 10 saves for the Beavers.
Wagner recorded four stops for the Vikings in the afternoon.
Werth led Augustana in shots with seven.
The Vikings return to action tomorrow afternoon with a 1 p.m. game against Minnesota Duluth.
