SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Upper Iowa's Allison Clark scored in the 88th minute to erase a 2-2 tie and lift the Peacocks to a 3-2 victory over Augustana Sunday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference soccer in Sioux Falls.
Its the first conference victory for UIU as they move to 3-5-1 (1-3-1 NSIC). The Vikings drop to 5-5-0 (2-3-0 NSIC).
Jessie Huff nailed six shots in the game and had three on goal.
Maren Werth fired her second goal of the season to put Augustana on the scoreboard first . The goal was off a free kick in the 24th minute.
The Peacocks answered back shortly after with back-to-back goals.
At 30:07, UIU's Corrine Wronski found the back of the net on a pass from Kelsey Taldone, and just a minute later Emma Vanderheyden slid the ball into the goal to bring the Peacocks ahead 2-1. The assist was from Kali Loescher.
The shots were the only two on goal in the first period for the Peacocks as Augustana outshot UIU 8-3.
A foul on UIU gave the Vikings a penalty kick from which
Stacy Dally was able to knot the score at 2-2 to begin the second period. It was her second goal of the season at came at 56:12.
Offensively, Augusana controlled the second period with 12 shots. But after a corner kick by Kali Loescher, UIU attacked hard and Clark was able to score to lift the Peacocks to a 3-2 victory at 87:46.
UIU had eight shots in the final half.
Amanda Wagner made three saves for the Vikings and Kaitlyn Emanuel had nine for the Peacocks.
Augustana begins a series of road trips next weekend facing Southwest Minnesota State Saturday at 1 p.m. and Minnesota State Sunday at 1 p.m.
