Vikings run past U-Mary

Taylor Hrdlichka hit .611 with 11 kills to lead Augustana to a 25-19, 25-13, 25-20 sweep of U-Mary in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference volleyball Friday evening.

Brooke Lewko hit .471 and put up 10 kills of her own, while Jordan Spatenka also added 10 kills for the Vikings who improved to 12-9 (6-7 NSIC). U-Mary dropped to 2-20 (1-12 NSIC).

Hrdlichka recorded a kill at 4-1 in the first set and again at 13-6 to help Augustana pull away from the Marauders early on. It was an offensive battle between the teams though, as U-Mary outhit the Vikings .417 to .387.

Augustana went on several runs throughout the second set, with its largest securing a 23-12 lead. Lewko and Dani Haley each recorded one kill for the final two points in the win.

The Vikings smashed 18 kills to finish off U-Mary in the third set. Haley tallied her 41st assist of the evening to help Mikayla Gallagher record her sixth kill for the final point in a 25-20 Augustana win.

Kayla Wallerich led the team in digs with nine.

The Vikings outhit the Marauders .303 to .161 in the match.

Augustana travels to Aberdeen, S.D., tomorrow to play Northern State at 7 p.m.
