Jordan Spatenka fired a season-high 22 kills to spark Augustana to a 3-2 (23-25, 14-25, 28-26, 25-22, 15-13) win over Northern State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference volleyball Saturday afternoon.
It's the second win of the weekend for the Vikings as they move to 13-9 (7-7 NSIC) on the season. NSU is 11-10 (6-8 NSIC).
Holly Hafemeyer and
Taylor Hrdlichka recorded 13 kills each.
Dani Haley finished with 52 assists and
Kayla Wallerich had a career-high 29 digs.
The Vikings dropped two sets to open the match, suffering from errors. But with the score at 26-26 in the third set,
Brooke Lewko recorded a kill and NSU had an attack error to give Augustana the set and ignite a Viking comeback.
Another close battle ensued in the fourth set but the Vikings took five-straight points at 18-18 to gain a secure lead. Hrdlichka smashed a kill to close the set.
NSU led 9-2 in the fifth set but the Vikings won 10 of 12 points while trailing 10-4 to steal the advantage. Hrdlichka finished off NSU with her 13th kill of the night.
Augustana hosts No. 1 Concordia, St. Paul on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
