ST. PAUL, Minn. - No. 4 Concordia University, St. Paul outhit Augustana .320 to .147 to sweep the Vikings 25-16, 25-20, 25-12 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference volleyball Saturday afternoon.
Its the second victory for CU over Augustana this week as the Golden Bears improve to 24-2 (15-2 NSIC) on the season. The Vikings drop to 14-11 (8-9 NSIC).
Jordan Spatenka led the Vikings with 10 kills and
Dani Haley had 29 assists.
Courtney Ysker recorded 10 digs.
Megan Carlson had a double-double for CU with 15 kills and 13 digs.
CU stormed out to an 8-2 lead in the first set. Augustana went on a five-point run when trailing 18-7, but it was not enough as the Golden Bears answered back with four-straight points. The Vikings were outhit .325 to .190 in the set.
The Vikings slowed CU's offensive strength in the second set and had a chance at a late lead, trailing by just one at 20-19. The Golden Bears closed the set strong, however, winning five of the next six points.
The third set was the strongest yet for CU as they hit .387 and opened with a 13-4 lead. The Golden Bears recorded three-straight kills to take the win.
Augustana returns home for three matches to close NSIC action. First up for the Vikings is Upper Iowa on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
