SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - No. 10 Wayne State held Augustana to a .031 attack percent to defeat the Vikings 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-14) in their final Northern Sun Intercollegiate match of the season Friday evening.
Augustana finishes its season 16-12 (10-10 NSIC). WSC moves to 23-7 (16-5 NSIC).
Holly Hafemeyer led the Vikings with 12 kills and a .346 hitting percent.
Dani Haley led both teams in assists with 34 and
Julia Witt made a match-high 12 digs.
WSC held an 11.5-3 advantage in blocks and six of them came in the first set. With the Vikings just a pair of points behind the Wildcats at 14-12, WSC recorded four blocks and a kill to stretch its lead to 19-12 and allowed Augustana just two more points in the set.
Hafemeyer notched six kills in the second set to help the Vikings keep the score closely knit, although they never managed to take a lead. An Augustana service error followed a kill from Hafemeyer to give WSC its second-straight set.
The Wildcats finished the match strong with a .385 attack percent in the final set, while the Vikings hit just .031.
Tali Fredrickson and Cori Hobbs led the Wildcats with 11 kills each.
