WEST UNION, Iowa - Josh Hanson threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns to guide Augustana to a 38-7 win over Upper Iowa in both teams' season finales Saturday afternoon in West Union, Iowa.

Augustana finishes its season 6-5 (5-5 NSIC/4-2 NSIC South), while UIU closes at 3-8 (2-8 NSIC/0-6 NSIC South).

Hanson completed 30 of 39 passes to eclipse the 300-yard mark for the third time this season.

Hanson and wideout Jordan Marshall were lethal on the afternoon, hooking up 11 times for 105 yards and a touchdown.  It was a career day for Marshall, a senior, in his final game.

Isaac Jorgensen and Dajon Newell also had touchdown receptions.

The Viking offense, which accumulated 436 yards, got a boost from senior Curt Truhe and his seven carry, 70-yard rushing performance.

Nick Andreas served as the anchor for a scrappy defensive unit that held the Peacocks to 193 yards of total offense.  The senior made eight stops and recovered two fumbles—returning one 15 yards for a touchdown.

Augustana scored the game's first 35 points and didn't give up a UIU score until the fourth quarter.

Isaac Jorgensen hauled in his second touchdown this season, corralling a 25-yard strike from Hanson with 1:02 left in the first quarter for a 7-0 Viking lead.

Augustana added two scores in the second quarter to lead 21-0 at the break.  Newell snagged a 17-yard pass from Hanson, and Phil Uecker plunged in from 1 yard out just before halftime.  It was Uecker's sixth touchdown this season.

The Vikings extended their lead with 6:16 remaining in the third quarter when Hanson connected with Marshall on a 14-yard score that capped a nine-play, 88-yard drive.

Three minutes later, Andreas scooped up a Peacock fumble and marched in on a 15-yard return.  The defensive score gave the Vikings a 35-0 advantage.

UIU's lone points of the game came early in the fourth quarter after Jessie Hubbard pulled in a 36-yard pass from Cole Jaeschke.

A Drew Behrens field goal with seven minutes left closed scoring.

Jaeschke finished 13 of 24 for 144 yards and one touchdown for the Peacocks. Hubbard had four catches for 63 yard and a score.

Augustana wrapped up its fourth-consecutive winning season with its 6-5 mark.

Twelve seniors played their final game Saturday.
