LAS VEGAS, Nev.
– Augustana had victories in five innings over Montana State-Billings (8-0), Fort Lewis (22-2) and Adams State (11-0) to win the Desert Stinger on Saturday in Las Vegas, Nev. The Vikings also defeated Western New Mexico (5-4) and Chadron State (10-0) on Friday to improve Augustana's record to 5-0 to begin its spring season.

In the Vikings' game against MSU-Billings, Traci Fransen led the Vikings with three RBIs and had one hit. Elizabeth Murray and Chelsey Durland also recorded one RBI and one hit each.

Ashley Meyer earned the win for the Vikings pitching all five innings and tallying five strikeouts, while allowing just two hits.

Murray along with Brown and Fransen each scored for the Vikings in the first inning.

Augustana then had two scoreless innings before Fransen homered to left field, allowing Murray and Jenny Brown to score again in the fourth inning. Lindsay Spanton also reached home to give Augustana a 7-0 lead.

MSU-Billings was unable to get any players on base in the fifth inning as Ashley Meyer struck out a pair of batters and Madison Smith grounded out.

In the final inning, Taylor Kapsch scored the eighth run for Augustana as a pinch runner for Theresa McMahon who singled to third to get on base.

Fransen smashed four hits and had another four RBIs in Augustana's game against Fort Lewis, while Murray recorded six RBIs and had three hits for the Vikings.

Mickey Anderson pitched all five innings in Augustana's win and allowed just two hits with no strikeouts.

Four runs were scored by the Vikings in the first inning and Fort Lewis answered back with another two.

The action continued in the second inning as McMahon hit a homerun, allowing Kapsch to score. Brown was then able to score as Fransen homered to right center.

The second inning was scoreless, but Augustana had three runners score in the third inning.

Augustana picked up another five runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by Murray's homerun that allowed Kapsch to score.

Kapsch and Murray each hit homeruns in the fifth inning for a combined five RBIs. Spanton was the final scorer for Augustana in the win. 

In the Augustana-ASC match up, the Vikings had five players each have a pair of hits. Kelsey Kalkman led the team with three RBIs and two hits. Fransen and McMahon also had two RBIs and two hits each. Also with two hits was Chelsi Winskowski and Kapsch.

Durland pitched all five innings for Augustana and had no errors with seven strikeouts and allowed just one hit.

Both teams left a runner on base, but neither team was able to score in the first inning.

With Augustana at bat in the second inning, the Vikings had two homeruns from Kalkman and McMahon. Augustana took a 7-0 lead.

Durland homered down the left field line in the third inning to put Augustana ahead 8-0.

Fransen, Spanton and Kalkman each scored for Augustana before McMahon struck out looking to end the fourth inning and the last at bat for the Vikings.

Durland recorded two strikeouts to close the fifth and final inning.
