SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - No. 9 Wayne State collected 25 points from Ashley Arlen en route to a 75-55 victory over Augustana, snapping an 18-game home win streak for the Vikings in Northern Sun Intercollegiate College basketball in Sioux Falls, S.D.
WSC is now 22-2 (19-1 NSIC). Augustana falls to 18-9 (11-9 NSIC).
Four Vikings were in double-figure scoring.
Megan Doyle picked up 14 points, and
Molly Hayes had 13.
Alex Feeney added 11 points, while
Kristi Board had another 10.
Besides Arlen, Alyssa Schwartzwald was the only other Wildcat in double digits. She earned a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The last time the Vikings lost at home was on Jan. 9, 2010, against Minnesota State Moorhead.
Arlen banked a 3-pointer to begin the game and got WSC off to a lead that eventually increased to 15-7 at 14:02.
Behind a pair of 3-pointers from Hayes, Augustana put together a 13-2 run that allowed the Vikings to take a 20-17 advantage.
However, the Viking lead didn't last as the Wildcats were able to quickly regain control by scoring 19 points, while Augustana had just two baskets for four points during the run that lasted just more than seven minutes.
Wildcats led 38-27 at the half.
WSC shot 50 percent from the field before the break and was 57.1 percent from the 3-point range.
Augustana shot 31 percent from the field and was slightly better in 3-pointers at 42.9 percent.
The Wildcat lead continued to grow in the second half, increasing to 60-41with just more than 10 minutes left of action.
WSC's advantage maxed at 23 points at 2:21.
The Wildcats continued to shoot well throughout the game, making 9 of 14 3-pointers for 64.3 percent.
The Vikings finished the game with 18 points off the 17 Wildcat turnovers.
Augustana wraps up the regular season next weekend at home against Minnesota State Moorhead and Minnesota, Crookston.
