Vikings conclude regular season with win over Minnesota, Crookston

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.Alex Feeney recorded her second double-double of the season, scoring 19 points and grabbing a career-high 13 rebounds, while helping Augustana to a 76-63 victory over Minnesota, Crookston to conclude regular-season Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play Saturday afternoon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Vikings are 20-9 (13-9 NSIC) to finish conference play. UMC drops to 13-13 (10-12 NSIC) to end its year.

Tessa Wilka scored a season-high 15 points and Lydia Nelson added 14. Megan Doyle rounded off double-digit scoring for the Vikings with 10 points and also had nine rebounds.

Four Golden Eagles scored in double-figures with Jamie Zelinsky and Laurie Tyson leading the way with 13 points apiece.

UMC held a lead for the first five minutes of action until Liz Helsper made a bucket in the paint to give the Vikings a one-point advantage.

Despite the efforts of the Golden Eagles, Augustana held on to a single-digit lead throughout the half. With one-minute left of play UMC cut its deficit to one-point. Feeney drilled a 3-pointer for Augustana to close the half leading 38-35.

Feeney had 15 points at the break.

Wilka sunk a 3-pointer and nailed by a basket in the paint to put the Vikings ahead 47-37 at 16:10 in the second-half.  The double-figure lead stuck for the rest of the contest.

The Vikings went on to cruise to a 13-point win.

Augustana finished 42.6 percent from the floor and UMC was 39.7 percent. 

The victory clinched Augustana's seventh consecutive 20-win season and 14th for head coach Dave Krauth.

The game was the final regular-season contest for Augustana's four seniors--Helsper, Board, Wilka and Doyle.

Augustana will know its seed for the upcoming NSIC Tournament later this evening.
