Augustana goes 2-0 on Day 1 of Rebel Spring Games

KISSIMMEE, Fla.
-  No. 14 Augustana had a flawless Day 1 at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla., beating Adelphi (4-7) 3-2 and No. 12 Indianapolis (13-6-1) 9-1 in five innings.

Augustana remains a perfect 11-0 on the season.

In the Vikings' game agasint Adelphi, Theresa McMahon, Jenny Brown and Elizabeth Murray each had one RBI.  Kelsey Kalkman finished 2 for 3.

Mickey Anderson pitched 5.1 innings to pick up the win. She had one strikeout and allowed seven hits.

Murray broke a scoreless game in the fourth inning with a home run. It was her fourth this season. 

In the fifth inning, Brittany Coufal singled and advanced to second base after a hit to left field from Kapsch. McMahon then singled to third base from which Coufal was able to score. Kapsch also made it home via a sacrifice fly from Brown to bring the Vikings ahead 3-0.

Adelphi made it to home plate twice in the sixth inning, but its effort to comeback wasn't enough as two were left on base. 

Ashley Meyer picked up Augustana's win against Indianapolis, pitching all five innings and allowing just one hit while striking out four Greyhounds.

Lindsay Spanton had two RBIs and two hits in the game. Murray led the Vikings with three hits.

Murray and Brown each scored for Augustana in the first inning off a double by Spanton.

UIndy answered with a single run in the bottom of the second. Jessica Breeden, who walked, scored on a ball sent to right by Krysta Bradford.

That run would be the only one scored by the Greyhounds.

Murray singled in the third inning and scored off a sacrifice fly from Chelsey Durland.

In the fourth inning the Vikings scored six runs on three Greyhound errors.   

Action for Augustana continues tomorrow at the Rebel Spring Games against Tiffin (8 a.m.) and the Vikings will also face No. 12 Indianapolis (10 a.m.) for the second time.
