AUGUSTANA VS WAYNE STATE (MICH.)
KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Augustana earned its fourth win in its final day at the Rebel Spring Games with a 4-3 victory over Stonehill on Saturday. The Vikings then dropped 8-1 to Wayne State (Mich.).
Augustana moves to 13-2. Stonehill is 2-10 and Wayne State improves to 10-10.
Mickey Anderson earned the win for the Vikings against Stonehill, pitching all seven innings. She had two strikeouts and allowed seven hits.
Traci Fransen led the Vikings with two RBI.
Elizabeth Murray had two hits.
Stonehill plated two to begin the game, to which Augustana answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first.
In the second inning, Stonehill scored once more, but
Brittany Coufal also reached home for the Vikings to tie the score at 3-3.
Theresa McMahon gave Augustana its winning run in the fifth inning after getting on base off an error. It was Fransen's sacrifice hit that drove in McMahon's run.
Ashley Meyer pitched 2.1 innings and had her first loss of the season against Wayne State.
Murray and Brown had the only hits for Augustana and Murray picked up the only RBI.
The Vikings scored their only run in the first inning from McMahon.
Wayne State followed with two runs of its own to close the first.
The Warriors pilled on the runs in the third inning, scoring six.
Augustana continues play in Florida on Monday, facing Southern Connecticut State in a doubleheader that will begin at 12:30.
