SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana had its seventh-straight win with an 8-0 victory in five innings over Concordia University, St. Paul in Game 2. The Vikings defeated CU 9-2 in Game 1 the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader Monday afternoon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Vikings are 33-5 (14-1). The Golden Bears drop to 23-15 (6-8).
Ashley Meyer pitched 7.0 innings in Game 1 and allowed nine hits, while striking out ten batters.
Elizabeth Murray tallied five RBI's and had two hits.
Traci Fransen had three hits for two RBIs.
Murray had a sacrifice fly in the first inning to score
Theresa McMahon.
CU hit a double in the third inning to score a run.
The Vikings had three runs in the fifth inning off hits from Murray, Franson, and
Lindsay Spanton.
Sami Mattson homered for CU in the top of the sixth.
The Vikings had a five run inning in the bottom of the sixth that was highlighted by a homerun from Fransen.
Chelsey Durland pitched all 5.0 innings in Game 2 for the Vikings, holding CU to just two hits.
Fransen hit her second homerun of the day in the game and led the Vikings with three RBIs.
Augustana earned its first two runs in the opening inning.
Brittany Coufal scored in the second inning and Murray smashed a homer to score McMahon.
Fransen hit her homerun in the fourth inning, scoring McMahon and bringing the Vikings ahead 7-0.
Brown singled to score Augustana's eighth run in the top of the fifth.
Augustana travel to play Winona State in Winona, Minn., tomorrow at 2 p.m.
