WAYNE, Neb.
- No. 10 Augustana's 15 game winning streak was snapped Saturday afternoon as the Vikings were swept by Wayne State in their last regular season doubleheader. The Wildcats blanked the Vikings 1-0 in Game 1 and WSC defeated Augustana 4-3 in Game 2. Augustana finished with a conference record of 22-3 to still earn the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference title.

Augustana's overall record is 41-7 and Wayne State is 34-13 (22-4 NSIC).

Ashley Meyer recorded just her third loss of the season in the circle in Game 1. She had five strikeouts and three walks and allowed two hits.

Katie Goetzinger pitched 7.0 innings for WSC and gave up four hits, while striking out five Vikings and walking nobody.

The Vikings and the Wildcats battled to a scoreless tie throughout the first five innings. It was in the bottom of the sixth that WSC's Jennifer Radley walked to get on base and advanced to second on a sac bunt. She eventually scored off a Viking fielding error.

The Vikings earned one hit apiece from Jenny Brown, Elizabeth Murray, Traci Fransen and Chelsey Durland, but it wasn't enough as nobody was able reach home.

Chelsey Durland pitched 6.2 innings for Augustana in the second game and allowed six hits. Durland is now 17-3 on the season.

Goetzinger was in the circle for WSC again in Game 2 and improved her record to 27-6. She gave up nine hits.

WSC brought in a run in the first inning and Augustana was able to tie the score with a run in the top of the second.

The Wildcats regained the lead in the bottom of the second.

Chelsi Winskowski singled in the fifth inning to once again tie the score off a single from Brown.

The Vikings took over the lead in the sixth inning. Kelsey Kalkman hit a single to score Lindsay Spanton.

WSC battled back in the seventh inning , scoring a pair of runs. Just one of the runs was earned however, and the winning run was scored on a wild pitch.

Chelsi Winskowski had three hits in the game for the Vikings. Kelsey Kalkman had two hits and two RBI's.

The Vikings' game against Southwest Minnesota State that was suspended earlier this month due to darkness has been canceled.

Augustana will host the NSIC Tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
