Vikings sweep Minnesota Duluth, advance to Super Regional BOX SCORE - GAME 1 BOX SCORE - GAME 2 SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Top-seeded Augustana rallied back in the bottom of the sixth for a 3-1 win over No. 2-seeded Minnesota Duluth to advance to the Central 1 Regional championship game where the Vikings faced the Bulldogs again to edge a 1-0 victory on Sunday at Bowden Field in Sioux Falls, S.D. No. 7 Augustana (49-9) will be making its first appearance in the Super Regional since 2000 when they faced North Dakota State and lost 12-2 to end its season. The Vikings will take on Minnesota State in a best of three game Super Regional series beginning Friday. The location will be announced later in the day. UMD finished its season 33-17. Ashley Meyer (28-5) pitched two complete games for the Vikings. Her complete-game shutout in the championship was her 11th on the season. She tossed a one hitter and struck out three batters. Heather Stemper was in the circle 5.0 innings for the Bulldogs in the loss. She gave up seven hits and had zero strike outs. Lindsay Spanton drove in the game's only run in the top of the third. Elizabeth Murray reached first on a fielder's choice and advanced to second when UMD's Sammie Gardner made an error allowing Traci Fransen to get on base. Spanton's single allowed Murray to score. Kelsey Kalkman's three hits was a team best in the game. In Game 1, Kalkman blasted her 11th homer of the season with runners on second and third to give the Vikings their three winning runs in the bottom of the sixth. An error by Fransen in the third kept UMD's Carlie Schnoebelen on base. She made it home to put UMD's lone run on the scoreboard off a single by Ashley Johnson. Meyer allowed seven hits and three walks with four strike outs. Jenny Brown had two hits in the game. Megan Mullen (16-9) pitched 2.0 innings for the Bulldogs in the loss, giving up three hits.
