BISMARCK, N.D. - U-Mary held Augustana scoreless to snap the Vikings' three-game win streak with a 2-0 Marauder victory Sunday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference soccer.
U-Mary remains undefeated in conference play with a 4-2 (2-0 NSIC) record, while the Vikings are now 3-3 (1-1 NSIC).
Just over 11 minutes into action, U-Mary's Michelle Jones made a pass off a corner kick to Blaire Brookshire who was able to score on a header for the first goal of the game.
Augustana's only two shots in the first half were from
Kate Timmons in the 34th minute of action and from
Stephanie Stevens at 36:43. Timmons' shot was on goal, while the shot fired from Stevens was blocked.
The Vikings came out stronger in the second half, adding another six shots for a total of eight.
Although U-Mary had 17 shots in the game, the Marauders only put in one more goal which came at 68:47.
Amanda Wagner made five saves for the Vikings and
Mackenzie Trom led the team with three shots. One was on goal.
The Vikings are on the road again next weekend as they play Minot State (8 p.m.) and Wayne State (1 p.m.) on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
