WAYNE, Neb.
- Dani Haley tallied 61 assists and Jordan Spatenka smashed 21 kills to lead Augustana to a 3-2 (25-18, 25-19, 18-25, 21-25, 15-12) victory over No. 10 Wayne State Tuesday evening in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference volleyball.

The Vikings improve to 9-4 (3-2 NSIC). WSC drops to 10-4 (3-2 NSIC).

Holly Hafemeyer also had an impressive offensive performance for Augustana with 16 kills. She also recorded five blocks.

Brooke Lewko and Taylor Hrdlichka each added 11 kills. Four Vikings had double-figure digs.

Augustana came out strong in the match, taking the first two sets.

After a tie at 9-9 in the opening set, the Vikings won a pair of points off a service ace by Kayla Wallerich and a WSC attack error to take a lead that was never lost. A kill by Hrdlichka finished off the Wildcats 25-18. The Vikings hit an impressive .385 in the set with 17 kills.

The score remained closely knit in the next set, but Augustana broke away from a tie at 18-18 when Hrdlichka smashed a kill. The Vikings went on to win the next five points to go up 24-18. Augustana had a kill from Hafemeyer to take the set 25-19. The Vikings allowed WSC to hit just .115 in the set.

Augustana remained on WSC's heels in the third set, but after a service ace from Christine Bielski, the Wildcats went on a seven point run to take a 21-13 lead. Augustana continued to inch its way back into the match, but was unsuccessful as WSC topped the Vikings 25-18. Augustana hit just .044 in the set.

The Vikings continued to fight in the fourth set. Augustana won three-straight points to knot the score 10-10. However, the Wildcats won nine of the next 11 points to take a 21-14 advantage. Augustana made up for lost ground and Spatenka notched a pair of kills for just a two-point Viking deficit at 21-23. It was not enough though as the Wildcats took the next two points for the win.

Augustana came out determined to win the fifth set and took an early 6-2 lead. After a tie in the score at 9-9 Augustana won four-straight points to hold a solid advantage. The Vikings ran away with the set 15-12.

The Vikings hit .204 in the match, while the Wildcats hit .190.

Augustana travels to Bemidji State and No. 4 Minnesota Duluth Friday and Saturday, respectively.
