– Augustana recorded six top-three performances, including a first-place finish from Kayla Mescher Saturday at the University of South Dakota Invite.

Mescher won the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 59.16. She also placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (9.49).

Skyler Kuil and Aduo Omot ran to second-place finishes in the 400-meter dash (50.88) and one mile (4:21.33), respectively. 

Justin Cook, Aaron Jung, Karmen Nyberg and Paul Yak all took third in their events. Cook ran the 1,000-meter in 2:38.72, while Jung hurled the shot put 49 feet, 2.50 inches. Nyberg finished the 200-meter dash in 26.40, and Yak covered the 3,000-meter run in 8:51.99.

Paul Mallory finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.52) and in fifth was Gathin Veldhuizen (8.55).

CJ Hamm threw the shot put 47 feet, 7.25 inches to take fourth place.

Other fourth-place finishers include Colleen Everson, who sprinted the 400-meter dash in 1:00.38 and Maddy Jourgensen, who ran the 3,000-meter run in 10:48.79.

Augustana men's A 4X400 meter relay team also placed fourth with a time of 3:32.33. The B relay team for the Vikings came in sixth (3:35.20), while their C team was seventh (3:37.88). 

The women's B 4X400-meter relay team clocked in at 4:10.56 to also take fourth-place honors. 

Henrik Hansson took fifth in the men's one mile run (4:27.52) and Jordan Slusser was eighth (4:28.95).

Kaitlyn Yoerg ran the women's one mile in 5:28.30 for seventh. 

Carissa Hotovy leaped 16 feet, 5.75 inches in the long jump to place sixth. Kirsten Noska also placed sixth, but in the triple jump with a leap of 33 feet, 8.00 inches.

In the men's high jump, Jacob Pohlmann came in fifth (6 feet, .75 inches), while Cory Sugden was seventh (6 feet, .75 inches)   

Katie Guse had the best leap for Augustana in the women's high jump, coming in fifth (5 feet, 2.25 inches).

Brett Anderson and Matt Winder placed sixth (52.29) and seventh (52.53), respectively in the men's 400-meter dash.

In the 800-meter run, Khor Kong ran to a sixth-place finish (2:06.69) and Davis Ellingson was seventh (2:08.66).

Megan Brown earned sixth place in the women's 3000-meter run (11:04.83) and Shane McCallum ran the men's race in 9:06.64 for eighth. 

Alyssa Schmidt finished eighth in the 800-meter run (2:30.02), while Laura Popanz took eighth in the 60-meter dash (8.30).

In the men's 60-meter dash Brock Bills and Taylor Olson placed seventh (7.25) and eighth (7.35), respectively.

Next Saturday the Vikings will travel to Minneapolis to take part in the Jack Johnson Invite.
