FINAL RESULTS
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - No. 1-ranked and unbeaten St. Cloud State jumped out to a 15-0 lead and made it stick for a 26-9 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory over No. 3 Augustana on Friday evening.
SCSU improves to 16-0 (4-0 NSIC), while Augustana falls to 9-2 (1-1 NSIC).
The Vikings had won six straight duals entering the contest.
SCSU's Jake Kahnke pinned
Brian Schultz (285 pounds), and
Cody Lensing (125 pounds),
Jason Jeremiason (133 pounds) and
Chism Fink (141 pounds) all lost by decision to give the Huskies their early and convincing lead.
Nate Herda sparked a round of Viking victories, edging Josh Howk 11-10 at 149 pounds.
Marcus Edgington (6-4 decision) and
Matt Morris (4-2 decision) scored the final points of the night for Augustana at 157 pounds and 165 pounds, respectively.
At 174 pounds, SCSU's Tad Merritt handed
Tom Davies an 18-1 loss by technical fall.
The Huskies finished off Augustana with wins over
Jayd Docken at 184 pounds (4-2) and
Sean Derry at 197 pounds (5-2).
The Vikings travel to Minnesota State tomorrow at 7 p.m.
