SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana women's basketball opens the regular season on Saturday hosting Mount Marty. The Vikings are coming off a strong performance in an exhibition in which five different Vikings scored in double figures. The Vikings return four starters and 10 letterwinners from last years squad which finished 24-7, 18-4 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference competition in second place and advanced to the regional semifinals. The Vikings are ranked no. 18 by the
USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll and were unanimously selected by the conference coaches to win the NSIC.
Alex Feeney was tabbed as the preseason player of the year for the south division.
