About the squad
The Vikings lost only two seniors from last year's NCAA postseason qualifying team.  The team now has five seniors and four juniors, all who saw significant playing time last season.  Junior Theresa McMahon (Hartford, S.D.) led the team with 16 home runs last year, tied for first all-time in the single-season school record book.  Senior Chelsey Durland (Maple Plain, Minn.) will be valuable for the team this year as she was named to the 2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Central Region team.  Durland has a 1.58 ERA in five appearances in the early stages of the 2012 campaign.  Six of seven Vikings who were named to the 2011 All-NSIC first or second teams are back for 2012.  Junior Jenny Brown (Omaha, Neb.) was an All-NSIC first-team selection and batted .422 to lead the team.

Players to watch
Meyer was named the NSIC Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Meyer pitched in 40 games last season, posting a 29-7 record with a 1.34 ERA in 241.0 innings pitched.  Meyer is 3-1 so far this season with a 3.05 ERA.  Senior catcher/infielder Elizabeth Murray was also named an NSIC “Player to Watch.”  Last season, the catcher started all 61 games and was second on the team with a .376 batting average, including 42 RBIs and 68 hits.  Murray was named All-NSIC second team last season.  After five games at the Desert Stinger, Murray is hitting .300 with nine hits and five RBIs.
