No. 23 Augustana undefeated at Rebel Spring Games

KISSIMMEE, Fla. -
No. 23 Augustana closed out the Rebel Spring Games with a 7-4 win over Northwood (Fla.) and a 4-0 victory against Wayne State (Mich.) on Saturday.

Augustana improves to 16-3 for the season.  The Vikings have now won eight straight.

In Game 1, Brittany Coufal (2 for 3) and Chelsi Winskowski (2 for 3) each had multi-hit games and combined for three runs Winskowski also added two RBIs.

The Vikings battled back and forth with runs until the bottom of the sixth when the team took the lead on Kelsey Kalkman's two-run home run to make it 5-3.  Augustana pushed two more run across before the inning ended. 

Ashley Meyer (6-2) threw 6.0 innings and gave up four runs (three earned) with six strikeouts.  Chelsey Durland threw the final inning for the Vikings.

Jenelle Trautmann and Winskowski also added solo home runs, while Jenny Brown hit her second triple of the year in the first inning.

The second game of the morning featured a rematch of yesterday's victory over WSU.

Trautmann (7-1) started the game and threw 7.0 shutout innings and striking out two.  Trautmann gave up four hits in the victory.  She also hurt WSU from the plate, as her 2 for 3 performance included one run scored and two RBIs

The Vikings struggled at the plate until the top of the fourth inning when Theresa McMahon ended the perfect game with a lead-off single, moved to second on Brown's ground ball out and then scored on Trautmann's single.

Lindsay Spanton then hit a single that caused a Warrior error, moving her to second and scoring Trautmann.

Brown scored the final run of the game after hitting a double, moving to third on Elizabeth Murray's sacrifice bunt and scoring on Trautmann's second single of the game.

The Vikings will play four games in Clermont, Fla., at the National Training Center over the next three days.
