VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. - No. 15 Augustana broke out of a two-game slump and swept its doubleheader against Minnesota Duluth 7-0 and 13-1 on Wednesday.
Ashley Meyer picked up the win in Game 1, throwing 5.0 shutout innings and giving up only four hits.
Chelsey Durland finished the game from the circle with 2.0 innings thrown and two hits allowed.
Offensively,
Elizabeth Murray and
Jenelle Trautmann each had home runs. Trautmann had a two-run homer in the top of the third while going 2 of 3 with a walk, a run and two RBIs. Murray hit a one-run blast in the top of the fifth and was 1 of 3 with two RBIs and two runs in the game.
Game 2 featured an offensive showcase by the Viking batters as they combined for 13 hits.
Lindsay Spanton led the team with a 3-of-3 performance including a home run and three RBIs.
EJ Scharmer had her first hit, run and RBI of the season, smacking a double to score
Elissa Reinsma and scoring on a fielder's choice and throwing error during
Chelsi Winskowski's at bat.
Trautmann won the second game with 4.0 innings thrown and four strikeouts with only two hits allowed.
