Vikings fall 2-1 in Bemidji after surrendering two second half goals

BOX SCORE BEMIDJI, Minn. – Augustana surrendered two second-half goals and fell on Sunday afternoon at Bemidji State.  The Vikings fall to 4-3-1, 3-1-1 in the NSIC and the Beavers improve to 5-2-1, 3-1-1 NSIC.

After a slow first half, Sheila Grogan broke the tie with a goal in the closing minutes of the first period.  Jessie Huff and Payton Pry assisted on Grogan's 44th minute goal from just outside of the 18-yard box.  The Vikings and the Beavers each fired off six shots in the first period.

Bemidji State didn't stay quiet for long in the second period with a goal in the 50th minute.  Then the Beavers struck again in the 77th minute with a nifty flick by a Bemidji State forward for the 2-1 lead.

The VIkings out-shot the Beavers 15-9, 8-4 on goal, but cam away empty handed.

Maren Werth registered four shots and Annie Thoresen booted three with two shots on goal for each Viking.

Sophomore goalkeeper is saddled with the loss, dropping her record to 0-2 on the season.

The Vikings return home to host Minnesota Duluth Sept. 29 at 1 p.m.
