SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Ranked 13th in the nation, Augustana looks improve on their 11-2 record with a Tuesday night showdown at No. 22 Wayne State on Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. The Vikings are tied for the lead of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with a 7-2 conference record and the Wildcats are close behind at 6-3 in the NSIC and 10-3 overall.
Augustana exacted revenge in a big way earlier this season with a resounding 82-56 victory over the Wildcats on Dec. 1 to kick of NSIC action. Wayne State defeated Augustana three times last season including in the NSIC championship game and the Central Region semifinals in the NCAA tournament.
The Vikings have not fared well in Wayne, Neb. having not won in Rice Auditorium since 2008 and lost four straight games. The Wildcats did have their 52-game home-winning streak snapped by Concordia-St. Paul earlier this month and have not lived up to their preseason No. 16 ranking with three losses this season. The Vikings do own a 16-11 edge over Wayne State all-time against the Wildcats, but are a collective 4-7 on the road.
