WINONA, Minn. - Holly Hafemeyer hit her 1,000th career kill and led the Vikings to a 3-0 sweep (25-23, 25-22, 25-20) of Winona State on Friday night. The Vikings improve to 15-3, 7-3 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and the Warriors fall to 6-13, 3-7 in the NSIC.

Hafemeyer drilled her second kill of the match to put the Vikings up 13-10 in the first set and became the 21st Augustana player to tally 1,000 kills in her career. Hafemeyer finished with a match-high 15 kills moving her into 20th place all-time in the Augustana record book.

The Vikings tallied 47 kills as a team with a .256 attack percentage (47-15-125) to carry them to victory. Brittany Cech recorded 13 kills, including seven in the first set. Four Vikings scooped up double-digit digs, led by Kayla Wallerich's 15 digs, and totaled 63 as a team to limit Winona State to a .167 attack percentage (39-18-126).

Augustana took a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-23 first-set win over the Warriors. After falling behind 3-0, the Vikings took a lead at 9-8 and never surrendered it. Cech's seven kills in the first set paced the offense which tallied 17 total in the first stanza.

The Vikings entered intermission with a 2-0 lead after holding off the Winona State comeback attempt and won 25-22. Augustana opened up with a 7-3 lead and staved off two Winona State runs to hold off the Warriors. Hafemeyer matched Cech's first-set offensive output with seven kills to lead the Vikings.

Augustana sealed the match with a 25-20 third-set win after facing just their second deficit of the match. The Vikings roared out to a 7-1 but Winona State answered with a 6-1 run and took a lead at 13-12. After an Augustana timeout the Vikings took 10 of the next 14 points and built a lead the y would not relinquish in the final set.

Augustana closes out their brief two-math road trip with a 4 p.m. match against Upper Iowa on Saturday.
