SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana College football team (3-4 NSIC, 1-2 NSIC South) travels across town to take on Sioux Falls (4-3 NSIC, 2-1 NSIC South) on Saturday, Oct. 26, with kickoff set for 6:35 p.m. at Bob Young Field. Augustana, which is coming off a 35-6 homecoming win over Upper Iowa last week, will play its first ever game at Bob Young Field. Sioux Falls is coming off a 47-7 road win over Concordia-St. Paul last week.
Augustana and Sioux Falls will compete for a traveling trophy in the Second Annual "Key to the City" game. The trophy is a four-foot tall key that was carved by local wood carver Arne Bortnem. Also on the line this Saturday will be a point in the First Dakota National Bank "Mayor's Cup Challenge" standings.
The Mayor's Cup is an annual head-to-head competition between Augustana College and the University of Sioux Falls athletic departments and their fans which pits 16 common, equally weighted, sports to determine which school and their fan base can claim bragging rights for that year. The respective school's fan base can also earn points by participating in the community engagement events throughout the year. The winning school is awarded the Mayor's Cup.
By placing equal emphasis on all sports, the series helps to build community awareness for less publicized Olympic sports. The series focuses on the message that "Every Game Counts" and that the rivalry between the schools is a year-long affair. For more information on the "Mayor's Cup Challenge" click
