SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Augustana (16-4, 8-4 NSIC) closes out a busy week against two teams in the top seven of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference standings. Friday night, the Vikings square off with St. Cloud State (12-8, 6-6 NSIC) at 7 p.m. in the Elmen Center. On Saturday, Augustana will play its third match in five days against No. 4 Minnesota Duluth at 4 p.m.
The Vikings look to rebound from their three-set loss to No. 17 Wayne State on Tuesday and have historically handled St. Cloud State with ease, especially at home. The Vikings are 40-21 against the Huskies and are the third most-common opponent in Augustana volleyball history. In matches at the Elmen Center, the Vikings are 20-1 with the only loss coming in 1995.
Augustana hasn't shared similar success against Minnesota Duluth who held the top ranking in the AVCA coaches poll for three weeks earlier this season. The Vikings are just 9-28 all-time against the Bulldogs with a 2-5 mark in NSIC matches. The last 19 times the Vikings and Bulldogs have squared off, UMD has been ranked in the top 25 and the Vikings are 2-17 in those matches.
